Alpha Squad - on me!
Name: Battlefield 2
Theme: The classic FPS game,
Battlefield 2
Materials: Silverstone TJ01
Build Time: 12 hours
The second case is a regular tower case: the classy Silverstone TJ01. This case is perfect for modding - very clean design with large, blank areas. The theme for this case will be 'Battlefield 2'. I will only be engraving this case - not that this isn't still a lot of work, but I won't be attempting anything like
Butterkneter's Battlefield 2 cases
After some time Googling researching images, I found this amazing artwork by
Cam Kennedy. Even though it isn't technically Battlefield 2, it is a cool sketch of a soldier carrying a M60 so I decided to use it. If you have read any of my previous articles, you will know that I engrave by "tracing" through a print-out of the artwork...
Fast forward a few hours, and all the outline work is done. Then it was time to move on to the detail: bullet dents for realism; extra width on the Battlefield 2 logo to make it stand out.
Looks good. I need to swap sides on the doors because I want the soldier on the other side. Normally, that would be impossible, or at least, the picture would be upside down, but it is no problems on the TJ01 - the side panels are universal.
I have to thank my brother-in-law for the idea of the second panel - he suggested a big-ass tank. The artwork is pretty detailed and the overall effect is really good. It just needs some small touches after this photo. Click for bigger versions.
It was essential that the front has a Battlefield 2 logo somewhere, and vertically on the black stripe was a natural location.
Here is the finished item. It took me about 12 hours in total, but the end result is a case that any Battlefield 2 fan would be proud to own. Understated coolness.
